Tonight is our “unofficial” first Wednesday night youth. Last week was the Back To School Bash and it was awesome!
I am excited about getting started on Wednesday nights and the different things we are going to incorporate this year during our time together. Besides the obvious, Bible Study and FUN, we are going to be praying for our World each week and I am going to challenge you to memorize a verse of scripture each week as well as read through the Bible in an entire year.
The Wall of Champions is back, so get ready to “fight” to get your picture on the wall.
It is going to be a great time together on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:30pm. We will kick things off tonight with a series on the “Beatitudes” in Matthew 5.
Basketball
After coaching boys basketball on the HS level for 12 years I have been blessed to coach girls the last two years. We have had a couple of very successful years on the court, including making the State Tournament this year for the first time since 1986.
The amazing thing is that it is what happens off the basketball court that makes this team so special. The past couple of years have seen many tribulations, including deaths of family members, heart attacks, LOTS of breakups and get back together’s, and other’s as well. This year’s tragic accident to one of seniors was a reminder of the GREATNESS of Christ. As I have shared in a previous post of Caylin’s injury and the way that God healed her body.
Off course with the bad are all the good things as well. This year’s greatest joy for me was having the privilege to pray with one of our other seniors as she made a first time commitment to Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. I am looking forward to the honor of baptizing her this Sunday. God REALLY is good all the time!!
Love
With Valentines Day quickly approaching I know everyone is thinking about love. In Mark 12 Jesus is talking with the people when one of the teachers of the law asked Jesus; “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” Jesus answered in Mark 12:30-31. ”Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Have you ever owned an MP3 player or something that requires batteries…amazing thing is that the device will not work without all the batteries to supply the power. So it is with love. Without a full power supply, Christ Himself, it is going to be tough to love our neighbors.
Let’s work on loving Christ with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength so that we might love others with God’s love.
Christmas
Well, I had a wonderful Christmas. Rebecca and I went to my families this year in Sunny Florida. I got some great gifts, including a new iPhone, but the greatest gift is that of God’s son, Jesus Christ. He was born of a virgin and lived a sinLESS life to die on a cross for SINNERS like me. Praise the Lord.
Hello world!
So, this is my first post on my new blog. I hope to be very consistent to write on here. I have gotten a lot out of some other blogs so hopefully you will get some things off this one.
